Mountain medicine... now that's one of those things too few people think about. Until they need it.

When s*!t hits the fan , the heroes of the mountains emerge. Performing rescues in terrain that most people wouldn't even dare cross in their wildest dreams. We had the privilege of documenting this training and showing how these medical professionals operate in the field. Crossing glaciers, adapting to changing weather and working in demanding alpine terrain.

Taking professional camera equipment onto a glacier and capturing the training from within takes careful preparation. Weight and durability become just as important as image quality. Showing up unprepared—or under-equipped—can mean returning home without the images that tell the story. That's why we spend so much time training with our own equipment, experimenting with different setups and learning every piece of gear inside out, even while wearing thick gloves on icy terrain.

During three days on the mountain we learned a great deal about the skill it takes to move, treat and rescue people on glaciers. We also experienced first-hand the challenges that altitude, weather and snow bring to documenting these environments. It left us with an even greater respect for the people working there, and for the relentless power of the mountains.
